Charles Leclerc is a 24-year old Scuderia Ferrari driver from Monaco and has drives car number 16. The driver has been in news following his massive victory in the 2022 F1 season opener in Bahrain.
Leclerc started his F1 career back in 2016 as a test driver and signed for Sauber in 2018 as a full-time driver. In 2019, he signed for Ferrari on a long-term contract, lasting until 2024. He joined the four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel when he moved to Ferrari.
Charles Leclerc, in the 2022 season opener, secured the third victory of his career, with his first two coming in 2019, nearly 3 years ago. Charles Leclerc was born to the late Herve Leclerc and Pascale on 16th October 1997 in Monte Carlo, Monaco. While it is assumed that the driver comes from a rich family, given his family background, Charles has repeatedly said that his family hasn’t been rich and Ferrari’s development program helped him grow. Charles’ father Herve had been a driver in Formula 3 in the 1980s and 1990s. Herve Leclerc died of a prolonged illness at the age of 54 in 2017, before Charles signed for the Sauber team, and was also a known name amongst the karting circles.
However, much isn’t known about Charles’ mother. His mother has been spotted several times during the race days, and the driver shares a close relationship with her. According to a source, his mother is a hairdresser and comes for the races as well.
