Last month, SmackDown personality Kayla Braxton quit WWE, citing her urge to move on to bigger things. And guess what? She’s done just that in a blink of an eye. Taking it to her X account, she revealed that she’s set to star in the upcoming comedic thriller, Stranglehold.
The movie features the likes of Ashley Benson, Jake Lacy, Justin Long, and Ron Perlman. It’s production has already wrapped up. And for someone like Kayla Braxton, it’s a dream come true to work alongside these virtuosos. As per Kayla herself, she’s been a lifelong fan of Justin Long and has always dreamt of being in a movie with him.
So that’s a pretty cool thing for the ex-WWE personnel to begin with. This is just the beginning, she would feel. The 33-year-old bet on herself and made a tough call to leave WWE in June. It wasn’t the easiest of decisions for her, especially with the fact that she’d already spent nearly 6 years with them.

Being a backstage correspondent and occasional ringside announcer, the real-life Kayla Becker had developed a special bond with numerous WWE Superstars. Arguably her most notable phase in WWE was when she used to interview Paul Heyman back in 2021. Their on-screen chemistry was unmatched and added a lot to the conversations they had.
Heyman was begging for life when Kayla so often freaked him out by enquiring about his alleged allegiance to Brock Lesnar. It was a time when The Beast had just returned at SummerSlam. He was after Roman Reigns‘ then-known Universal title. The latter’s Wiseman, Paul, used to run out of answers in front of Reigns. Adding to his woes was Braxton’s tantalizing inquisitiveness.

About a month ago, WWE visited Madison Square Garden for SmackDown. It was the last contractual obligation for Kayla Braxton. She put up a note of gratitude for her WWE family afterward. The former interviewer turned out bittersweet.
On one hand, she could now pursue what she had dreamed of, but on the other, the grief of separation was also palpable. Nonetheless, she added that she’ll catch up with her WWE peers down the road again.
After the show was over, Cody Rhodes came out to bid an emotional farewell to the departing figure. Out and out, what a night it was for her. Braxton also sent a message to Paul Heyman, who was brutalized by The Bloodline earlier on the show.
